{"id":1423,"date":"2016-04-07T11:16:23","date_gmt":"2016-04-07T11:16:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/nayrb.org\/~blog\/?p=1423"},"modified":"2016-04-07T21:40:34","modified_gmt":"2016-04-07T21:40:34","slug":"cross-border-taxation-and-money-laundering-incentives","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/nayrb.org\/~blog\/2016\/04\/07\/cross-border-taxation-and-money-laundering-incentives\/","title":{"rendered":"Cross-Border Taxation and Money Laundering Incentives"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>So, there&#8217;s an interesting game being played by governments around the world.<\/p>\n<p>From a purely <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Game_theory\" target=\"_blank\">game theory<\/a>[1] perspective, to optimize tax income, it makes sense for governments to do two things:<\/p>\n<p>1) Find all the people all over the world they can tax and tax them.<br \/>\n2) Convince people from all over the world to move to their jurisdiction for lower taxes<\/p>\n<p>Now, if this is &#8216;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Tax_avoidance\" target=\"_blank\">tax avoidance<\/a>&#8216;, this is still legal[2].  But it seems to often veer into &#8216;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Tax_evasion\" target=\"_blank\">tax evasion<\/a>&#8216;, which is not legal.<\/p>\n<p>All this is leading up to say that while <a href=\"http:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/news\/2016-04-05\/rotschild-admits-america-biggest-tax-haven-world-obama-slams-tax-evasion\" target=\"_blank\">the United States is talking about tax avoidance and tax evasion around the world<\/a>, it seems that <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/business-35971835\" target=\"_blank\">Congress seems to be one of the largest stumbling blocks to solving the problem<\/a>[3].<\/p>\n<p>[1]I am informed that from a purely grammar theoretical perspective, &#8216;From a purely game theoretical perspective&#8217; is incorrect.<\/p>\n<p>[2]Although, when you can purchase laws&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>[3]Note that this article tries to get more hits by using the word &#8216;Rothschild&#8217;.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>So, there&#8217;s an interesting game being played by governments around the world.
